February 19-21 a good portion of the WDC crew got away for a retreat to the lake. The weekend was relaxing, chocked full of truth about enduring trials and hardship, and a lot of fun. The study focused on Hebrews 10-12 as we looked at suffering, sharing in Christ’s sufferings and the faith of our brothers and sisters who have gone before. A heavy theme, but a theme that bore much fruit for the sake of the gospel. The weekend culminated in an art project where we all remembered and portrayed specific ways God has shown his faithfulness to us in our lives. A beautiful time of sharing and worship occurred as we heard each other’s stories of how God is faithful in the midst of suffering. The idea for this project came from Jennifer reading “Polishing God Monuments” by Jim Andrews. He encourages us, in the midst of suffering, to remember and “polish” specific ways that God has shown His faithfulness to us in our lives. I have provided the sessions on here if you would like to follow what we studied or if you would like to use it as a resource. Look at the Suffering and Endurance page.
